This error occurs when you submit the product data for a category in which you are not authorized to list. For certain products, brands, categories, and sub-categories, Amazon requires sellers to obtain approval before listing products.
- Applying to list new products in categories that require approval
An 8026 will be received in the flat file if you perform listing the product via upload using a category flat file that requires approval. Most listings are pushed through in the Manage Inventory but with Inactive status.
- Click the Inactive link to see or to fix issues.

2. Click the Request Approval button to begin the application process.

Please note: Amazon may request documents such as performance checks, images of the product, and other qualifications to process the application. If so, please get the necessary documents from the client.
- Applying to list existing products that require approval
3. Hover your mouse over the Catalog menu from the Seller Central Home page and select Add a Product.
4. Search for the existing listing in the search box (ASIN, UPC). In the search results,
- Choose a condition from the dropdown
- Click the Show Limitations link next to the item to see restrictions.
- Click the Apply to Sell button to begin the application process.

Note: Apply to Sell button is only available if Amazon is currently accepting applications to sell this product. If the button is grayed or not clickable then a listing can’t be created in your catalog.
- Tracking of Application Status
5. Go to the Catalog tab and choose View Selling Applications.

The application status will be listed as Approved, Declined, and Draft.
Approved
If your request is approved, you will be able to list the product in your selling account.
Declined
If the status is declined, you can “Reapply”. Ensure that when asked to upload documents such as purchase invoices, pictures of your physical product, or compliance documents, the document you provide must meet all requirements listed on the Selling Application page. If any information is missing or a requirement is not met, your request will be declined.
Draft
A draft is automatically created on your Selling Applications dashboard. From the dashboard, you can open your draft to review requirements and submit your request, view the status of your submitted applications, or re-apply.
